Hello and Welcome to my site!
As I’m sure you’ve noticed this is a photography page. I remember growing up how my mom always seemed to have a camera in her hand. ‘Wait! Let me get that shot!’ ‘Don’t move!’ and ‘Smile!!!’ were phrases we all knew well and, I have to admit, I came to dread. It wasn’t until I moved out and no longer had these moments that I realized what I was missing. And now I’m the mom always with a camera in hand!
In 2005 I bought my first digital camera, a Kodak Z720 5mp with a 10x zoom. I was a jobless college student and was quite proud being able to save up for this camera. I took countless photos with my little Kodak (many thousands that I kept and who knows how many I deleted). It accompanied me on many trail rides, 4×4 trips, as well as birthday parties, holidays, vacations, and family bbq’s. I even photographed 2 weddings with it, a friends and a cousins, before upgrading. All camera’s have a life span, how many shots they will take, and I know that little Kodak gave me more than it was rated for! It still lives with me and gets occasional use by my step son, nieces and nephews.
It was September of 2007 when I bought my spotted horse, my inspiration. And let me tell you, that Kodak really got a work out then! I found wonder in everything he did, even just standing there grazing. He was a dream come true for me and awoke another passion that has only grown. I still don’t tire of photographing my spotted horse and have thousands of images of him just being him.
2009 was when I started to notice that my poor Kodak was slowing down. I was having to take more time setting up shots. It really wasn’t a ‘point and click’ anymore. But again at that time I found finances tight and so I babied my baby and kept taking pictures. I photographed my step kids riding their dirt bikes and really got into action photography. I documented our 4×4 trips and discovered how beautiful nature and landscape photography is. My husband and I said goodbye to our beautiful Idaho and moved to Oregon where I continue to take my pictures.
Christmas of 2010 found me with a new camera finally. It was undeniable that my Kodak had taken its last shots and so I was surprised with a new Canon SX30is for Christmas. I was so ready for this camera! As much as my Kodak had given me I really had out grown it. I learned about shooting in Manual with this Canon and my pictures were vastly superior to those taken with the Kodak. I started reading photography books and taking classes. I took my first set of Senior Pictures with that little Canon for my step daughter, a moment in time we still cherish. It was then that I really decided I wanted to do this for a living. I love taking people’s pictures! I love getting lost and photographing nature and the Earth! I love capturing animals just being animals! I love walking out my front door and photographing the moon! I love photography!!!
So with that self discovery I started saving up and in September of 2011 I bought my first dLSR, a Canon T3i. What a world that opened up to my eye! I was hopelessly addicted! I started buying lenses, filters, cases, tripods, remotes, and more books! In 2012 I purchased a second dLSR, the Canon t4i, and participated in the 360 and 52/Self Portrait projects where I took a photo a day and a self portrait every week.
In 2014 I upgraded my 2 little Canons for 2 new Cameras: a Full Frame Canon 6d and a Canon 70d. I was lucky enough to be able to sell the T3i to a budding Photographer in Phoenix and the T4i to my sister, who also shares my love of photography. I have also after several years infected my husband with the photography bug and will be helping him on this wonderful journey.
Now we have come to 2015 and besides the 2 cameras my bag of fun includes the Canon 135mm 2.0L, Canon 70-200mm 2.8L IS, Canon 50mm 1.4, Tamron 28-75mm 2.8, and Sigma 12-24mm 4.5/5.6 and a Speedlite 430ex. I have started photographing real estate sale photos and am continuously trying to expand my knowledge and experience.
And so that brings us up to date. I still have my day job but it’s just that and photography is my passion. If you are in the area and are interested in a photo shoot then get a hold of me! I would love to be your photographer!
